Cheers to twenty-six

I celebrated birthday with my closest girlfriends and my sister at Malibu Wines. I wore a floral halter fit and flare dress from Express with Vince Camuto sandals. I couldn't have asked for a better birthday. I was surrounded by tasty food, delicious wine and wonderful friends. Malibu Wines is such a nice getaway; there's live music, a safari wine tour, and no entrance fee. It does get crowded. Arrive early to claim your territory! I recommend booking a table if you have a large party. Celebrating twenty-six was so much fun, but I couldn't help and reflect on my twenty-fifth year. Just like every year I had ups and downs, but I've learned that it's not what happens in life, it's how you overcome the obstacles that counts. Last year I moved to a city on my bucket list, I finally got over an ex (way over due), I found the courage to date again, I got a raise at my job, I got back into my fitness game, I went on my first adult vacation, and most importantly, I learned to make myself happy. Twenty-five was a good year, I learned a lot about me. I can't wait to see what's in store for twenty-six. Stay tuned.

Hair Talk: Mane Maintenance

To maintain a healthy mane, you need to understand your hair, identify its weaknesses and buy products accordingly. I apply heat to my hair often and I make trips to the salon for coloring about every five weeks.

Oi Shampoo + Conditioner are my current favorites. I have been using Davines hair products for over a year now, but this duo will change your life. The shampoo cleanses your hair without leaving it dry and the conditioner leaves it manageable and soft. I absolutely love the sweet scent that lasts all day. This product is perfect for Coachella, especially if you're camping! I took the travel size last year and it gave me amazing hair all weekend. No one would have guessed it was air-dried. The oils in this duo make hair dry fast without frizz and adds shine + volume.

Eufora Curl'n Cleansing Cream- I use this cleansing cream once a week, it really helps break down the products and oil build up. My hair stylist recommended doing it twice after I shampoo using 2-3 pumps each time. Adding conditioner after is optional since this product is non-lathering cleansing conditioner. The line is for curly hair, but can be used for any type especially dry/over-styled hair. Do not let the name scare you.

Milk - is an anti-frizz leave in nourishing treatment. Suitable for all hair types, it moisturizes and promotes hair growth. I apply this to damp hair before I blow dry for a salon-styled finish.

My featherweight T3 blowdryer gives me unbelievable blowouts. True to its name, this blow dryer is lightweight, quiet and extremely powerful. It has 3 heat settings, two speeds and a cool button to set the finish. It is expensive, but so worth it.

Wigo hairbrush - I carry this cute small brush everywhere I go. It helps tame the little guys that refuse to stay in place. I recommend always carrying a little brush for baby hairs or a detangler for long hair.

My Midi Skirt

Blouse + Skirt: Nordstrom Rack, Shoes:Steve Madden, Purse: Rebecca Minkoff, Sunnies:Valentino

Fashion has repeated itself, and midi skirts are back! The midi skirt was a popular length in the 1940s, a fashion time known for elegance and grace. For a family wedding, I paired my floral midi skirt with a black blouse, strappy heels and pink purse. These skirts are beautiful but are not the easiest to wear, at least for me. I really had to consider my height (I'm 5'2), and the length of the skirt before I bought it. I chose a skirt just right below my knee to avoid looking shorter than I actually am and strappy heels to elongate my legs. Below are a couple tips to help my fellow petite girls master a midi.

1. Pick a skirt that falls right below the knee, or right above.
2. Avoid thick strapped shoes or booties. Pick a shoe that does not cover the top of your foot. Pumps and strappy sandals work best.
3. Choose a close-fitting top to define your shape.

February favorites

There's lots to love at Sephora. Lately, it has been my one stop shop for beauty products.

Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Foundation - I have stayed loyal to my NARS skin tinted moisturizer but decided to invest in a new foundation for special occasions. Thanks to the Pantone Color IQ feature at Sephora I was matched perfectly with Marc Jacob's Genius Gel in the shade of "Bisque light." I absolutely love the the matte finish. It doesn't crease and it lasts all day.

Marc Jacobs Blush Brush- Mindlessly shopping, I fell in love with this brush. I was sold after feeling how soft it is. This brush is on the pricier side, but so worth it. I use this flat shaped face brush for my blush, contour and finishing powder.

NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer - has changed my under eye game! This concealer is my current favorite, especially after a night out drinking. This creamy formula hydrates my under eye, makes my dark circles disappear, and doesn't crease. I use the color "Custard," which is one shade lighter than my actual skin tone. I love using this concealer over my skin tinted moisturizer or even just bare.

L'Occitane Rose et Reines Hand & Nail Cream -I carry this cream everywhere I go. I own one for my car, my desk at work, and my purse. I am a germaphobe so I'm constantly washing my hands, which leaves my hands feeling very dry. This cream contains shea butter, lavender oil, coconut oil, and honey that instantly hydrates and makes my hands feel soft again. I highly recommend investing in this! This brand has a variety of scents.

Makeup bag + heart shaped sponges - These were seasonal items exclusively sold on the Sephora website. I loved the size, print and color of the bag for spring. All my daily essentials fit perfectly. The heart shaped sponges were a must buy for Valentines Day. It made my vanity look a little more festive. Little details make a big difference. Applying my foundation with heart shaped sponges felt a little more fun.

Stila Makeup Wipes - I bought these at Nordstrom Rack on sale. They are priced higher on the Stila website so lookout for their sales. I used to buy Neutrogena brand wipes, but they used to burn my eyes when I removed my eye makeup. Stila wipes smell great, are super gentle on your skin and do not burn at all. They are not moist enough for waterproof or heavy eye makeup, but removes foundation, concealer and blush well. I don't use heavy makeup, so these are perfect for me. I always carry a pack in my gym bag and makeup bag. The wipes are 100% biodegradable rayon, and made without synthetic fragrance, mineral oil, sulfates, or parabens.

"All the women who are independent throw your hands up at me, all the honeys who makin' money throw your hands up at me..."

This month is all about LOVE. I will be posting about self-love, hair products im currently loving and my love for these red and pink color schemes. Red and pink are colors that are vibrant, uplifting and draw attention. As a single girl on Valentine's Day you may not want to draw attention to yourself but remember that this day isn't only to celebrate couples. Being single, young and fabulous are also great things to celebrate. Flying solo or with Mr. Right now is okay! Come out to play my fellow single ladies. This Valentine's Day I will be spending the night with my best girlfrans and have an amazing time out on the town, no men required. Xoxo

Beauty products

Although California does not have freezing winters, the climate change does affect my hair and skin. I'm keeping my hair and face moisturized this season with organic and vegan friendly products.

Hello Hydrating Mask- I dye my hair... a lot. I love change and with all the coloring, I know I need mane maintainence. This Hello Hydrating Mask has helped restore my hair back to healthy. It's made out of coconut, almond, and aragan oils which smell like a tropical smoothie. The results are immediate, nourishing dry hair. I now incorporate this mask in my weekly pampering. First, I brush all the knots out of my hair, then apply (from ends to roots) and keep it on for about five minutes. There is another mask this line carries for overnight treatment.

Luminance Skin Care The face wash and toner are my absolute favorite, the face wash removes all my make up and the toner revives my skin. I love a rose scent so I was sold with this rosewater toner.  The face moisturizer is perfect for sensitive skin like mine. I apply this moisturizer every morning before my makeup. This skin care line also sells a deep conditioning moisturizer if needed. For my days on the go (without make up),  and after the gym, I find the nourishing serum super helpful,  a little amount goes a long way during cold weather. If your skin is extra dry, a good tip is to apply some of the rose toner after the serum.

With Valentine's day approaching be sure to check out their great gift sets. This company just released a Special Edition Ginger Peach Soap as a holiday fundraiser  that will donate to young adults that have been raised in foster care. Support a great cause!

Little black dress

Channeling an amazing icon this month, Audrey Hepburn. She was woman known for her chic style, class and elegance. If Breakfast at Tiffanys taught me anything, it was the essential LBD that every woman should own in her wardrobe. I paired my LBD with sheer polka dot nylons and my favorite black pumps.

Staying true to my own style, I added this Bare Minerals red lippie, and teal belt as bursts of color to make my outfit pop.

Current obsession: Nylons in fun colors and patterns.
